    This is cosmopolitan and energetic city. With ancient roots shrouded in the mists of time, it has grown a cultural gem. Well worth a visit.

    Great attractions that we can certainly recommend include The Galleries of Justice, The City of Caves and Nottingham Castle. 

    There is also music at the Concert Hall and the famous Rock City as well as sport at Trent Bridge and Nottingham Forest.

    Sherwood Forest

    Nottingham’s favourite son is of course Robin Hood. There are nods to this outlaw all over the city, but be sure to head to Sherwood Forest for that ‘legendary’ experience. There is camping available near Sherwood Forest to allow you to relax into your VanGlorious VW Campervan and enjoy all this area has to offer. 

    Forestry England welcomes you to Sherwood Pines, if you are after something a bit more family activity based. You can conquer the Go Ape Tree Top challenges, complete the Gruffalo orienteering trail, or discover forestry and bushcraft activities.

    Historic Nottingham

    Not only is Wollaton Hall worth a visit, Newstead Abbey comes high on our list too. Set in extensive grounds with some amazing walks and cycle tracks. Newstead is a great day out for the family. 

    Both Rufford and Clumber Parks form part of the local area too, and are equally as beautiful. Both also have great cycling, so don’t forget to book the Thule Bike rack with your VanGlorious Campervan

    Southwell Minster and The Work House in Southwell (National Trust) are well worth your time, and Southwell is a beautiful place to wander around, with plenty of independent shops and cafés to explore. 

    Newark Upon Trent is a gorgeous market town in the North of the county, famous for antiques and its castle.

    The National Civil War Centre is one of the main attractions, (and even entertained my reluctant children!). The main market place has a stunning Georgian Town House, and is home to many quirky and unusual buildings too.
